Spirit of the Warriors is the first in a series of middle-grade books that will uses fictitious sports narratives to promote multiculturalism in Australia and overseas.
James Knight was raised in Gunnedah, a country town in NSW, Australia. He is a best-selling author who has written 13 non-fiction books for adults; these span a range of biographical topics including cricket, social work, emergency services, mountaineering, refugees, and characters of the Australian bush. James has also written two children’s non-fiction books about former Australian tennis star, Ash Barty, and Australian women’s soccer player, Sam Kerr. James is also television producer, narrator, and commentator, and has worked as a reporter for all main commercial television networks in Australia. In 2001 he lived and worked in India as a television consultant and provided media training to high profile Indian cricketers Harbhajan Singh and VVS Laxman. James has covered several Australian cricket tours and Olympic Games. James is an avid off-the-beaten-track traveller who has worked as a volunteer at community centres in Ecuador and Ethiopia. He uses his personal and professional experiences to provide unique and inspiring insights when he visits schools to conduct writing and storytelling workshops. His work in this area has taken him across Australia and overseas. He wrote ‘Spirit of the Warriors’ to help promote multicultural awareness between Indians and Australians. The book is the first in a series that will be based around sports and people from different places across the world.
